Thesis Drafting
- Arrange meetings with thesis supervisor to confirm scope and aims of the thesis project
- Install the in-house FELASH finite element software and work through sample questions to gain familiarity with the software and its nuances
- Attend university lectures on advice for the thesis project
- Research the topic and compile a library of the current research on the topic
Literature Review
- Prepare a literature review of all current research on the topic as well as key seminal historic papers and journals
Webposter
- Present the thesis problem and objectives in a readable, easy to comprehend manner
- Create a coherent visual style to be used throughout the website
- Consolidate the literature review carried out to date
- Present a plan for how the thesis project will
be carried out with realistic timescales
Interim Submission
- Report on the results of the thesis project attained to date with any analysis that can be drawn
Modelling
- It is currently anticipated that the computer modelling will start being performed in November.
- A high number of models will be created with the
size of the ring at the eaves, slope of the roof and radius to thickness ratio
being varied between them
Analysis
- It is anticipated that the analysis section of the thesis will begin as soon as a sufficient amount of data becomes available from the modelling phase.
Thesis Drafting
- It is expected that drafting of the thesis will begin in early March, with proof reading and editing likely to take place in early April
